so my last entry was posted 39 weeks ago. wow. i feel like i might be too old for this shizz. okay hmmm. where do I start.. I graduated from college. there's a start. now i start all over at a new college. it's a vicious cycle i say. umm. I caught my gf in a lie, but i haven't brought it up, and i don't think i'm going to. it's childish, even though it hurts. i'm trying out this new thing called self control. It turns out i have a short fuse. my band's pretty much obliterating by the second. we can't find a singer to fit our needs, which are: powerful and moving music. is that too much to ask for? nevertheless I'm recording in under two weeks with Jon and Edgar. That's always fun times. my friend omar wants me to help him out by playing guitar for his music project called "ohmie". people like pop music so w/e. I need to put all this expensive equipment to use anyway. maybe something will come of this.

blah blah blah. Our old singer left the band to pursue his college carreer at UCSB. We were stuck in a rut. We finally came accross old friend Joe Sherman (ex-amity vocals). We are all super excited about all the new tunes we've been working on, and are looking forward to hitting up the venues for more emo soul rock for everyone to cry while listen to. So things are starting to roll now, and I'm happy about that. As for me, I joined the music applied program at my community college, and I'm learning lots of fun nerd music stuff and all that jazz. literally. fun fun fun. oh yeah, I'M 21 YEARS OLD NOW!!! I turned 21 on the 30th of August.
ahahah old user pic, it's all 2003 straight up

The show went pretty well. I didn't know what to expect, but we could have done better. I need to go buy a stage tuner asap. I let Edgar tune my guitar, and he did a horrible job. I was pissed, and I sounded like crap for the first couple of songs, and we had to downtune for the second song, and they were rushing it.
So all that my band mates care about is partying now. They left all our equipment out in the parking lot and let the security guards unload everything, while they went with their friends and discussed parties, which they didn't end up going to anyway. Then they just hung out and whatnot in front of the venue like jackasses, when there's stuff to do. I think my band is very unprofessional as of now, and are defenitely looking to get something stolen, again.
Stupid chain reaction security guards think they can just unload my 1400 dollar guitar amp off stage without asking me. I was so pissed. Then they leave it outside on the floor. I need to get some road cases. This show was unprepared and way too sudden, but it went well I guess. The whole amp thing ruined the rest of my night, because the scumbag thought he could just start grabbing shit after I told them not to touch any of my stuff. We were supposed to be the last band, but then they throw in some other band after us, so we had to rush. It was lame.
Thanks for reading. bye.

I got myself a job the other day. I'm working at the Embassy Suits Hotel in Downey incase anyone wants to go stock me. yup, I finally got meself a job. It's chill. They call it part time, but it's mostly full-time. I started on the 10th which was a saturday. and I worked on sunday as well, from 5 in the morning to 1:30pm. I'm gonna have to get used to the obstruct ass schedule, but whatever, I could use the money. speaking of being broke, my band's playing a show this thursday, March 15, 2007 @ 7:30pm, which is in like two days. Tickets are $10 bucks. It's gonna be our first show with the new drummer, Ryan. I think it's too quick, but we sound okay, so I'm looking forward to it. Plus it will be our first show with my new guitar amp, hence the orange ad30, hence I'm a bad ass. I need to get my pedals up and running as well. pedal boards are just too pricey, but oh well, it's going to be necessary. Also we're starting to add back up vocals to the music, which is helping A LOT, so that's good. and I'm looking to get a tattoo soon, which is going to consist of a young J.S.Bach rocking out on an organ or a harpsichord and lots of other fancy shmancy stuff. any way, I gotta get going. peace.

gobble gobble. snl is random. I can't decide which class I should drop this semester, or if I should even drop a class. It's tough. I'm applying for work at the Embassy Suits in Downey. It's possibly a for sure thing but they don't pay enough to start. My mac is finally going to start doing me some good. I'm getting a new mic soon. Gonna start recording some music. and some other stuff too. haha. I'm hoping to get a good deal on this pedalboard I might order through GC. Bad Ass. The orange amp purchase is treating me quite great. I need a bigger room that way I don't have to be leaving all my equipment at the rehearsal place. I need to clean up, it's ruining my train of thought.

Anberlin - Time & Confusion |
] |
So what's new? We haven't had a drummer for nearly 2 months... "The Story begins" ...I really wanted to quit my band, and had gotten into an argument with a couple of the guys(rhythm guitarist & singer), so I was pissed and complained to our drummer Joey about it, cos he understands and we both share the same ideas on what we want to accomplish with this band. I'm basically in this for the music, not to get 13 year old girls to like us, if they do, that's fine, but my thing is good music, and a great live performance to go with it. I mean "great live performance" as in Great live sounding music, and not as in rocking out hard and hitting the wrong notes or going off beat. All that seemed important to the other guys was getting well known, and recording all these sucky songs, and putting them on myspace just to say we have "so many songs". That's bullshit. If that's your reason for playing music then you deserve to have you hands sawed off. I was outraged to see the direction that this band was headed in, and wasn't going to be part of that. So I had a three hour long chat with Joe about the whole thing, and he agreed with me in full, and told me about how he's been wanting to quit but felt bad for the other guys, and I told him about how I felt the same way. So he made it clear that he wanted out. He had other good reasons for this as well. Long story not as long, he called up the guys and let the rest of them know that he was no longer interested in pursuing the same goals as the rest of us, and left on a very good note. I on the other hand, am very passive in a sense. I could spill my guts out one day and feel perfectly normal the next. So I continued to meet up with the band for occasional rehearsals, but didn't really say anything more. I refused to play two acoustic shows, and we still haven't played a show since. Edgar(rhythm guitarist) got over his annoying pride, and put a bulletin up on myspace regarding the loss of our drummer, but tried to say that the reason he left was because he "wanted to pursue his super metalcore roots", which is only half true. He's very open minded obviously he was in our band(super emo-shit band). But anyway, I reposted the bulleting, being more honest about the whole situation, and not just trying to make the band look good. I prefer being honest and getting the most out of that. Lying makes you fake, and I'm not looking to play fake music. I play from my heart and own creative inventions, and expect the rest of the band to do the same. The End.
...now in most recent news, we found a drummer..I think. His name's Ryan. I really like this kid. Plays Great, very kick back and easy going individual. and most importantly, he's a music major. He goes to college to study playing drums. If that's not kick ass, then I don't know what is. He's definitely in. Also, I chilled with Joe yesterday. Smoked some bomb kush, and listened Iron Maiden, then came to my pad and watched Will Ferrell movies. Sweeet!

okay, so I haven't written a journal entry in like almost a year. I don't think I have anymore friends on this thing anymore, or how ever the heck this works. So I just got home from watching Talladega Nights. lol. Twas very funny. Other than that, I was home all day playing with the settings on my amp. haha. It's got like 16 differnt amp models built in, which it attempts to replicate, and it does an okay job at it. I just bought a tube screamer pedal, well the maxon reissue OD808. So since my amp is solid state, and will never replicate a mesa boogie's awesome tube tone, adding this pedal to the line up gets me pretty damn close to the real thing. and not only that, I like it cos it's NOT a mesa boogie. It's just as good, but different. A sound I can call my own. So I've been doing a lot of experimenting with effects and what not on my free time. Oh! and for anyone who plays guitar, and wants a huge improvement in clarity and tone...Check out a BBE Sonic Maximizer. Sooooo niiice! okay so enough about that. I'm enrolled in summer classes, and fall starts right when summer ends. So I get no break, but I'd rather be at school than home. It's crazy. I'll be a junior in college already. Fucking aye dude. Time flies. It feels like just last year I was a juinir in high school writing in my live journal cos it made me feel cool. haha damn. I've got a final coming up soon, for a Bio Psych course that I'm taking. Not as complicated as it sounds. I'm having a massive brain freeze right now. Slurpees at 1 in the morning are awesome! kayalright. to end with a quote. "She said what? ...She said dakota" lol. kaybye.

I'm damn tired and I am pretty damn sick as well. I can't sleep cos I didn't get to bed last night until like 3:30 in the godamn morning. I got fizzaded earlier and then I ate at Norm's with dah homies Joe and Steven. that was great. let me tell you. then I got home and watched all the movies that I had left downloading the night before. I just got done watching Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire. wasn't bad. wasn't good. more or less. well anyway, that's neither here nor there. moving on. My car was supposed to be done getting a new hood and paint job done today, but it's not. Totally saw that coming. some chick litterally put her car in reverse right in front of me, and believe it or not, she bumped into me. I drive a dodge neon, so basically she totaled my shit. At any rate, my car's getting fixed so that's the end of that drama. I made 2 new songs for my band yesterday, but they chose to rebuke my songs cos basically we've made 24 billion acoustic songs and only 7 of them have been heard by anyone other than us...and so like I got this thing about how we don't need new songs right now, but I don't like the one we're working on right now too much, and so I wanted to skip it. hahaha....skip it. old school. anyway. I wanna start getting drunk every weekend again and start up "Tom Tucker from the News" again. my official "scene/dance/drunk" band/techno/any random skinny kid yelling bitch sounds into a microphone-blowdryer/tuff...
